Tell Me On A Sunday

We know you have a story in you. Unleash it. Conjure a memory, recent or ancient, good or bad.

Tell it to yourself, re-tell it, hone it, cut it, embellish it. Pitch it to us. Get on stage and tell it.

Tell Me On A Sunday, our popular story telling series organised in collaboration with Ikon, is back for 2014. Hosted in the Ikon gallery, these events see participants tell stories based around a specially selected theme, all with truth at their heart.

Each month, eight storytellers perform a seven minute story live. The events feature special guests and are curated by Cat Weatherill, one of Europe’s leading performance storytellers, who also tells her own story.

The themes for 2014 are:

Sunday 26 January
Once Upon a Time
Guest storyteller: National Storytelling Laureate Katrice Horsley

Sunday 23 February
Within These Walls

Sunday 23 March
The Kindness of Strangers – more information coming soon

Sunday 13 April
By the Skin of my Teeth – more information coming soon

These events will all be taking place at Ikon. There will be a Story Supper at Café Opus from 5 – 6pm (booking is via Café Opus for this, please click on each event title to find out how to book) followed by the main event from 6 – 8pm in the main gallery upstairs.

How to pitch your story:
If you’d like to take part in any of these events, please send a 100 word pitch about your story to our Acting Programmes Director Abigail Campbell at abigail[at]writingwestmidlands.org.

Cat Weatherill has shared some story guidance and advice for anyone wishing to pitch and perform at Tell Me On a Sunday which you are advised to read. This can be found by clicking here.
