The Young Writers’ Foundation Group will give young writers a chance to develop their interests in creative writing across a range of styles and forms – from poetry to drama. It will be limited to 20 participants and each session will include a creative writing workshop, a chance to share new work and an opportunity to find out about education and career opportunities for writers. In addition to the lead writer, there will be an assistant writer and regular visiting writers, all sharing their enthusiasm for creative writing.
The group will be led by Birmingham-based novelist, screen and radio play writer and workshop leader, Helen Cross. Helen is the author of three novels including the award-winning My Summer of Love and Spilt Milk, Black Coffee; both of which have been adapted for film. Her radio plays have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and she has been writer in residence at various festivals, universities and other venues across the world.
The group will be meeting from 11am – 4pm on the following dates: Saturday 10th January, Saturday 11th April, Saturday 27th June and Saturday 12th September.
