Welcome to Writing West Midlands

We support creative writers and creative writing in the West Midlands region.

We run workshops, conferences, residencies and networking throughout the year, as well as the creative development programme Room 204. We hold a range of writing workshops and short courses, as well as host writers from all over the globe.

Through our Spark Young Writers Programme, we provide schools with writers, run 19 monthly creative writing groups across the west midlands and hold a yearly summer school (this year: 22-26 July 2019 inclusive, in Wolverhampton.)

Through partnerships with publishers, universities, galleries, libraries and many others, we nurture readers as much as writers.

Birmingham Literature Festival runs with a full programme in October of each year. The next festival is in October 2020.
