Writing West Midlands’ Writer Development Programme
Writing West Midlands’ writer development programme is focussed on The Writers’ Toolkit, which is run alongside regular Writer Networking Meetings. It is a partner to our learning programme, Write On!.
The Writers’ Toolkit is an annual writer networking conference and a series of smaller networking events around the year and across the region. Details of The Writers’ Toolkit 2010. Archive of The Writers’ Toolkit 2009.
Our writer development programme also includes a small commissions programme, beginning with Ears Wide Open, an initiative we are jointly promoting with the Theatre Writing Partnership in the East Midlands.
We are also developing a programme of Writer Training activities, some in partnership with the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and other organisations. These will be in addition to our programme of creative writing workshops.
We are also keen to develop new areas of work, benefitting emerging and established writers and other groups of people, including those who may not consider themselves writers. We are supporting of the Writing and Health work being developed by, for instance, the Hearth Centre and undertaken by Mandy Ross and Polly Wright.
We don’t currently organise any of our own competitions, although we may in the future. In the meantime we have details of Competitions that have come our way or links to other competition listings.
We are not an agency but from time to time we are in need of writers to work directly for us, for instance to run writing workshops or give performances. Details of these are included on our Work Opportunties page along with links to regular listings of work opportunities.
