Writing West Midlands is a Literature Development Agency for the West Midlands.
We are a new organisation bringing together activities previously managed by the Birmingham Book Festival organisation. We exist to help good writing and literature activities flourish in the West Midlands. We focus on work to develop opportunities for writers, including supporting young writers and building audiences for writing.
We currently manage Write On! (part of our learning programme), the Birmingham Book Festival (part of our programme of festivals and year-round events and workshops) and The Writers’ Toolkit (part of our writer development programme). Other strands of activity will be added as we become established.
News: Creative Writing for Young People
We are launching two new projects for young people interested in creative writing: Write On! Online and Writing Squads. Both start in January 2010 but are recruiting now.
